When modifying the existing Monster Manual Creatures, specifically reducing CR you need to consider a lot of things. With these elementals their size needed to be reduced from Large to Medium. This effects their hit dice (from d10s to d8s) their damage dice from 2 to 1 respectively and their ability scores.. which requires a bit of DM discretion. I reduced their physical attributes down slightly and left INT/WIS/CHA alone. The DEX reduction affected AC on the squishier elementals. But I did not let it affect the AC of this earth elemental because it’s still well armored.
